As a herb that provides both yin and yang energy, it is suitable for use by both sexes to promote the functions of the endocrine system, improve sexual functions, enhance normal growth, quicken healing, strengthen the physical structure and increase resistance.

This herb comes from the deciduous trunk bark of Eucommia ulcommia ulmoides Oliv. The bark is stripped off between April and June and cut into small strips. These strips are held together by a stretchy, silvery white substance that looks like rubber and contains latex. Chinese pharmacists determine the quality of Eucommia Bark by gauging how much and how elastic this springy, rubbery substance is.
